Nitronic 50 or XM-19 is technically an austenitic stainless steel with superior corrosion resistance to that of 316 and 317 with almost twice the yield strength at room temperature. At both higher and lower temps Nitronic 50 possesses good mechanical properties. Where Nitronic 50 is unique is that unlike other grades of austenitic stainless steels, Nitronic 50 doesn’t become magnetic when cold worked or cooled to below zero temps.Nitronic 50 has fantastic corrosion resistance in the following applications: petrochemical, food processing, marine applications, as well as some nuclear and oil and gas.
